The number of women of all ages that I encounter who are unhappy with their body and looks in general is seriously disturbing. We really are experiencing a tsunami of self-hate on the body-image front. I’m not going to go into the cultural and social reasons why this is happening. I think most of us are aware of the unrealistic standards imposed by our celebrity and media-crazy society. It makes many of us feel like we are we fighting a losing battle. Some of us make the subconscious decision to give up rather than compete with this ridiculous, soul-destroying standard. Sometimes we need to lose something in order to gain something else. When you lose your illusions about your body, and become fit and healthy for the right reasons FOR YOU, then you can escape the body image rat-race for good and get on with enjoying life. The results will emanate throughout all aspects of your life, including your relationships.

Feeling fit and healthy is a great feeling. We feel invigorated, energised and ready to tackle life head on. We have the energy to do the things we love and we’re in a better mood for longer. We feel sexy, alive and invigorated (there’s nothing wrong with that either!). On the other hand, when we’re above a healthy weight range or we are chronically inactive, we feel sluggish, unmotivated and even depressed. The links between healthy eating, being active and good physical and mental health are obvious and undeniable. We don’t need research to tell us that if we move our bodies we feel good!

There are different diet and exercise regimes for different bodies, but most of us know what we need to do in order to lose weight and gain fitness. With hypnosis, we can tackle the subconscious rationalisations and justifications you may have taken on, as well as form new healthy associations between eating and well-being, to replace unhealthy, dysfunctional ones, like eating to distract yourself from boredom, anxiety and other unwanted thoughts and emotions.

Keep in mind that years of living a particular lifestyle can’t be miraculously undone in one session. However, from the first session, we will start to rewire associations and build solid foundations so that you can reach and maintain your health goals. Many clients experience a radical shift in perspective from the very first session. On-going hypnotherapy sessions can also be a great additional tool to support and motivate you on your journey to a healthy you.
